Hi Charleston Searchers: My great grandfather Francis Haynes ALLEY was born in Gibraltar south of Spain on January 24, 1812. He landed in Charleston on November 14, 1817. He married an Elizabeth Jane ROBISON born on May 10, 1819. Elizabeth Jane ROBISON was from Charleston, I assume. They were married on September 18, 1836, by a Dr. Capers, denomination unknown. This marriage produced eight children from 1938 to 1954. My great grandfather married twice more in his life. But I am interested in his first wife the above noted Elizabeth Jane ROBISON. There was in Charleston around this same time frame a John B. P. ALLEY who was said to have been born in Spain in 1813 and MAY have been a brother of Francis Haynes ALLEY. John ALLEY applied for citizenship in Charleston in 1836. He was a cabinet maker. My great grandfather Francis Haynes ALLEY was a carpenter.
