Sally, I have also done considerable research on the family - especially my line through "King" Roger MOORE and wife Catherine RHETT. I descend through their daughter Sarah MOORE and husband Thomas SMITH. We are definitely cousins! I would love to hear from you about your descent. Sounds like we have a lot of info to share! Wendy, I have 10 children listed for Gov. James and Margaret (Berringer) MOORE - none of them was named Joseph. The order of birth is unknown, however, the children are listed in Gov. James MOORE's will in the following order: James, Jehu, Roger, Maurice, John, Nathaniel, Anne, Mary, Rebecca and Margaret. I copied "The First Governor Moore and His Children" by Mabel L. Webber (South Carolina Historical and Genealogical Magazine) and just checked it for a Joseph. I thought perhaps your Joseph might possibly be a grandson of Gov. James Moore and Margaret Berringer - but had no luck finding the name Joseph Moore as a direct descendant of this Moore family. I'm sorry I wasn't able to be of more help to you.
