    3. S.C. Gov. Jim Hodges order a mandatory evacuation of his state's coast today as Hurricane Floyd --one of the most powerful storms to threaten the United States this century -- took further aim at South Carolina. About 800,000 people are in the coastal S.C. counties of Beaufort, Jasper, Colleton, Charleston, Berkeley, Georgetown and Horry. Hotels along Interstate 26 out of Charleston were booked as far north as Asheville,(5 to 6 hrs. away from Charleston) according to AAA office in Columbia. Charleston Mayor Joseph P. Riley Jr. said Tuesday he expected his entire city to be evacuated and anticipated the eyewall of the storm would pass over the metropolitan area. Forecasters say Floyd could hit land along the S.C. coast by early Thursday. If Floyd follows one projected path, it could come ashore near Edisto Beach, just south of Charleston. Bye guys...
