According to the book, Charleston, Charleston, by Walter Fraser, Jr. There was a hurricane during the summer of 1854, and following there was "a virulent epedemic" of yellow fever brought on my the mosquitoes from the hurricane. From "mid-August to mid-November 627 persons died." Hope this is what you are looking for. Jean
