Hi All: I am looking for information on my great grandfather, Francis Haynes ALLEY. Born September 24, 1812, in Gibraltar south of Spain. Landed in Charleston, SC on November 14, 1817. I do not know who his parents were -- most likely French. We believe that a brother of F. H. ALLEY came over with him a John B. P. ALLEY born in 1813 also in Gibraltar south of Spain. John B. P. ALLEY was married to an Adeline C. became a citizen in 1833 I believe. It is thought that John B. P. moved to Greenville Co., SC sometime after 1840 for the census has him in Charleston, SC in 1840. I do not find that F. H. ALLEY ever applied for citizenship. Francis Haynes ALLEY was married to Elizabeth Jane ROBISON of Charleston, SC on September 18, 1839. Later he was married to Malinda WILSON on September 16, 1855. I believe that Malinda was from Macon, GA. Still later he married my great grandmother Lucinda NICHOLS on October 22, 1857.
