bill - would you please look in your book and see if you have any THAMES listed? also, i don't know how far your records go back, but i just found out that another ancestor i wasn't really searching for anything on (but would very much like to find out whatever i can) was or possibly originated in charleston. that surname is MAVERICK. any/all of the mavericks would be mine. a capt. samuel maverick married a lady named lydia turpin. they had (among other children) samuel a. maverick who was born in charleston on dec 30, 1772. his son, samuel a. maverick was one of the signers of the texas declaration of independence from mexico. (i have bought 2 copies of the entire declaration, complete with signature pages with maverick's signature, for my children for christmas.) thanks for your very generous offer to do look-ups. julie thames howell, jax, fla
