    1. Re: [SCCHARLE] Catholic Miscellany; St. Lawrence Cemetery
    2. Hi Daniel Re Catholic Death Records in Catholic Miscellany Newspaper and the St. Lawrence Cemetery. Here is the address for Catholic Diocese of Charleston http://www.catholic-doc.org/ (includes a history of Catholics in early Charleston) and here is the E-Mail address of the Church Archivist - Mary Giles mgiles@catholic-doc.org Several years ago the Diocese replied to my query re wedding and funeral of my Irish ancestor. Luckily, the 1843 wedding notice had been printed in the Newspaper - the actual church records of St. Mary's had been destroyed along the way The Diocese also had the funeral notice plus lot number for his burial at St. Lawrence Cemetery. St. Lawrence is not an individual church graveyard. Rather a large cemetery set aside for members of the Catholic faith - right next door to Magnolia (Protestant) Cemetery and across the street from Bethany (Lutheran) Cemetery. Several others smaller cemeteries complete this "Cemetery Row"- which was started after the individual church graveyards filled up. Good luck in your research. Mary Alice
