Frost and Judy: Whoops! Sorry, I made a mistake in my earlier message. (Told you I was confused) Regarding my paragraph ; "St. James, Santee Parish records shows "John Horry, - - widower" married to "Ann Royer, - - widow" July 5, 1759". This could not have been Ann Simons, widow of John Royer IF she secondly married Capt. Stephen Proctor because she would have been shown in the records as "Ann Proctor, widow". So maybe there WAS an "Ann Proctor" who married John Royer, Jr. (d. abt. Nov., 1753) and she then (1759) married John Horry. Oh boy! Edward
Edward Manigault and Margaret Stapleton and List Thank you for your contributions / corrections on the HORRY line. I have made revisions and print my version of the ancestors of Gen. Peter HORRY (1742-1815) below. I welcome further additions and corrections.(I am descended from Peter's first cousin Thomas HORRY (1748-1820)) To learn more about Peter HORRY and Francis MARION, I recommend reading "The Life of General Francis Marion", by Brig. Gen. P. Horry and Parson M. L. Weems, written in 1824 and republished in 2000 by John F. Blair, Winston-Salem (I got a soft-copy from Amazon). Despite the old language and some exaggeration, which HORRY deplored, it is a wonderful account of MARION and HORRY during the Revolution.
