Thank you so much Bill for the directory assistance. I had thought that the family of Hyams to which Hamilton and Pinkney, who were brothers, according to the census belonged were just another group of Hyams and not related to mine. Then I remembered that I have a Hamilton Andrew Hymes, born in Darlington, 1865, son of Hyam Hyams/Hymes. I wonder if the name of Hamilton is just a coincidence? Thanks for the clue....gives me something more to work on. By the way, can you tell me how to check the archived messages on the SCCHARLEston-L@rootsweb ? I have done it before but cant remember how and when I went to the rootsweb site, I could not find it anywhere. Nothing I did seemed to work. Edie in Atlanta
Edie; Glad the info was helpful. I have never checked archived messages. Maybe someone else can guide you.
