Magee: I am not from Charleston, SC, but the 1992 South Carolina Highway map that I have shows St. John's Island. A search for Chaplin Cemetery on the following site: http://mapping.usgs.gov/www/gnis/gnisform.html with the following search criteria: Feature Name: Chaplin Cemetery State or Territory Name: South Carolina Feature Type: Cemetery County Name: Charleston produced the following results: Geographic Names Information System Query Results CHAPLIN CEMETERY, CHARLESTON COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA -- CEMETERY 1 Feature records have been selected from GNIS.* Feature Name: Chaplin Cemetery Feature Type: cemetery State: South Carolina County: Charleston USGS 7.5' x 7.5' Map: Wadmalaw Island Latitude: 324436N Longitude: 0800815W If you wish to view the location, look below the above results for "Show Feature Location". The initial two maps don't show much detail, but if you keep clicking on "Zoom In" below the second map, you will get more detail. From my maps it would appear that the directions to Chaplin Cemetery are as follows: Leaving Ravenel, SC on US17, headed toward Charleston, turn right on County Road 20. Travel about 1.8 miles and just after crossing a bridge, turn right on County Road 54. Proceed about 3 miles and the cemetery, if it still exists, will be somewhere on your right.
