About a month ago or so, I posed similar questions to the SCROOTS list. I think that URQ5 and one or two others gave pretty good responses as to Charleston Neck, where I, too, had an ancestor. And my 5Xgrandfather PETER DUBOIS shows up in the 1790 census for St. James Goose Creek. I believe that a good explanation for its location and more is contained in J. Russell Cross' "Ramblins in Berkeley County." I am in the middle of some other projects at the moment but if no one else chimes in as to the latter, I will try to look it up in the next few days. Because I nuked my email account last week, I no longer have the answers I received as to Charleston Neck, but some hardy soul might find them in the SCROOTS list archives by searching for "Charleston Neck".
