My roots (paternal and maternal) are in CHARLESTON - although I have always lived hundreds of miles away !! Have been searching many years for PARENTS of my known Charleston ancestor - Civil War Lieutenant - ISAAC DANIEL DROZE - born about 1830 - died July 1864 in Civil War - leaving young widow who then lost touch with Droze in-laws "in the country". (Possibly Beech Hill/Old Dorchester/modern Summerville?) My ancestor, Isaac Daniel Droze is listed on the 1860 US Census - in City of Charleston, together with wife (Eugenia) and three sons (including my ggrandfather). Isaac Daniel is age 29, occupation painter. I would like to verify that MY Isaac Daniel Droze is the SAME person as the ISAAC DROSE listed on the 1850 US Census - in City of Charleston, living in household (son?) of Catherine Drose (widow?). This Isaac on 1850 Census is listed as age 17, occupation painter. (I have copy of an 1852 Deed signed by Catherine and other Droze family members, but no indication of relationship; also copy of Catherine's death card same year.) * * * Another coincidence of name and street address. The 1856 Charleston City Directory show J. (I.?) Droze, occupation painter, living at 22 Cannon Street. My KNOWN Droze family lived at 22 Cannon Street, per the 1860's City Directory. * * * THANKS for any and all clues HOW I might VERIFY if these listings all refer to the same person - my KNOWN ancestor - Isaac Daniel .
