    1. [SCCHARLE] Historic Churches
    2. Re recent discussion on historic chuches Today I happened to read a list of historic churches in the city of Charleston - which mentioned a LUTHERAN Church built about 1810. ST. JOHANNES LUTHERAN CHURCH CORNER HASELL AND ANSON. BUILT ABOUT 1810. I did NOT know another Lutheran Church had been organized in Charleston in the years AFTER the founding in 1700's of St. John's (Archdale Street) and BEFORE the establishment in 1840 of St. Matthew's (King Street) by the Hannover immigrants. I have paternal and maternal ancestors who were members of both St. John's and St. Matthew's. Possibly family connections also worshiped at this third Lutheran Church. Does anyone know if ST. JOHANNES LUTHERAN CHURCH Is still an ACTIVE congregation - with, hopefully, a History Committee to review the church register for christenings, weddings, etc. Would be much appreciated if a local Charleston List member could look up the St. Johannes Lutheran Church in phone directory - and then post the street address and phone number on the List - for further inquiry. Thanks ! Mary Alice
