Frost: Here is how I figure it out. Ann Royer and Ann Proctor seem to be the same person, unless there were some very strange unions in that time. John Royer (1696-1721/22) [son of Noe Royer and Judith Gitton] m. (abt. 1716) Ann "Hannah" Simons (b. 1699). They had at least 3 issue, Ann, Samuel, and John, Jr. (d. abt. Nov., 1753) a Ferryman. If John Horry's wife's maiden name was Ann Royer, it could be this one, the dtr. of John and Ann (Simons) Royer. It was reported that John, Jr. married an "Ann Proctor", dtr. of Capt. Proctor and wife, "Hannah", but that would mean that he married his half-sister. That, I would prefer not to believe. It was this "Ann Proctor" who was supposedly later married (July 5, 1759) to John Horry (1709-1770) widower of Ann Robert. After the death of John Royer (abt. 1722), Ann (Simons) Royer married (abt. 1730) Capt. Stephen Proctor and had at least two issue, Richard and Ann. Richard m. (1772) Mary Vinson. Ann (1731-1773) m. (1755) Josias Allston (1731-1776) as his second wife. This Ann can not be the wife of John Horry because she was married to Allston during the same time period. I think it is "possible" that Ann (Simons) Royer/Proctor married, thirdly, John Horry. Does anyone have a death date for Capt. Stephen Proctor? I have Ann Robert as the mother of the same children you have Ann Royer for. If Ann Royer lived to 1776, she was still living when John Horry married Ann Proctor in 1759. St. James, Santee Parish records shows "John Horry, - - widower" married to "Ann Royer, - - widow" July 5, 1759. That's the date I have for John marrying Ann Proctor. So was her maiden name Proctor, or Simons (or neither)? Edward >> > ----- Original Message ----- >> > From: "Edward L. Edward Thanks for the clarification from your obviously very deep database. I am glad you verified the name ROYER, as I was about to merge it into ROBERT (big mistake) When I return in a week, I will examine your email and try to find some thing to add to the discussion.
