Could someone with access to the "Index to Wills of Charleston County" look to see if William Wray who died in July 1817 had a Will or the Will of any other Wray from around that period. I found in the 1942 SC Historical Magazine The Marriage and Death Notices from The City Gazette of Charleston SC. September 4, 1823 my GGG grandfather Henry Wray was admitted to the Charleston Orphan House by his mother Sara D. Wray. The entry does not mention his father. I am trying to find out who Henry Wray's father was. Any help will be deeply appreciated. Sincerely, D. Scott Dingler D. I'm trying to fill in missing links re. the MOTTE family of Charleston, SC. A son of the Marquis de la Motte -- John Abraham -- supposedly came from Antiqua in 1704. I am told that others arrived there from Jamaica. The Marquis de la Motte was b. abt 1650 on the Island of RE off Normandy, France. In addition to John Abraham, he had a second son... I'm not sure if his name was Isaac, or not. John Abraham was born abt 1675 in Danzig & died 1717 St Michaels, Charleston, SC. He married Sarah Mary Hill. He and Sarah had a son Jacob Motte b. 2 Nov 1700 in Dublin, Ireland d. 17 Jun 1770 Charleston, S.C. I am especially interested in learning more about this second son Isaac. I'm related to a Joseph Mott(e) b. ca. 1775 in GA, whom I believe is related to an Abraham Motte b. ca. 1750. Abraham married Sarah Scrugg in 1769 in Effingham Co., Ga, & named a son Isaac.

I am researching Kicklighter - originally spelled Kichelayter - Thomas came from Germany in 1753 with his wife - name unknown; daughters - Catherine and Elizabeth, and son, John Frederick. I am trying to find records that will tell me where in Europe they came from. They came on the ship Elizabeth, which they boarded in Rotterdam. From what I know now, they either came from Germany or Austria.
