    2. Ken Parker
    3. Are there registers / indexes for 1823 marriages of Charleston, SC? I am looking for the marriage records of Benjamin HILDRETH and Jemima DOWLING. It said to have taken place in Charleston, Darlington District or Alabama. Realistically, I believe it was somewhere in SC. Just not sure yet. Any help as to available indexes, especially internet would be appreciated. ken parker

    3. Imogene, Type in everything on that address through 1957 wtih a slash afterward. Your new link will be: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Valley/1957/ Sometimes the geocities addresses won't come up any other way. Anytime you can't get a geocities link to come up, delete everything at the end down to the four digit number. That's the file number. By the way, this is a great site for Charleston names! I found several ancestors there. I tried to contact them, but got no reply, so don't count on help from them. But you can find lots of leads if your names fit. 2. Julie - I have to tell you how much I love your quote about friends at the end of your e-mail. It is wonderful. I sent it to a very special friend of mine who has been fighting breast cancer since 1993, whose health is very precarious. I now live about 500 miles from her, and I sent her that quote because it expresses so well how I feel about our friendship. I went to visit her in August and may not get to see her again. Thanks for sharing something special. Glo Marquis

    3. Hello all... Rootsweb has added "Post-ems," a memo/explanatory space to the Social Security Death Index found at: http://ssdi.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.cgi When you access the Social Security Death Index through Rootsweb, you may post additions and corrections to index. You also may view what others have posted. This is a good place to add: maiden name spouse marriage date and place names of parents place of death date and place of burial names of children places of residence You may also provide correct information about dates of birth or death when the SSDI data is not correct. This also provides a link to you for others who areresearching your family.

    2. MELISSA HOLLOWAY
    3. I am looking for some information on the free black family named the Holloways who lived in Charleston during the 1800's & 1900's. The patriarch was Richard Holloway who owned a Harness Shop on 33-35 Beaufrain Street. He and his wife Elizabeth Mitchell had 13 children during the 1800's. I am especially interested in who their children married. Thanks. Melissa __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Bid and sell for free at http://auctions.yahoo.com

    1. [SCCHARLE-L] COURANT/COURANTS
    2. Vince Summers
    3. Dear Folks: My Courant line is from NJ! So why am I contacting all of you in South Carolina (I am living in VA)? Simply because it is the only COURANT that I found in the first few volumes of FILBY's book on Ships' Lists. Courant must be French or something no? I have a Manuel Courant, listed in the SSDI in NJ... Manuel... is it French? Well, at any rate... Would any of you, all of you, who may have any Courant or Courants, please contact me, so I can begin my research from the beginning forward, even as I am trying, via documentations, from the end backward. Thanks! Vince
