Greetings from SC. Found this info while surfing; I have no known connection to these people. Dr. John Gillett McCULLOCH, dentist of New Orleans, LA, was born in New Orleans 31 March 1860. He married Miss Kate NOLAN of New Orleans in 1885. Dr. McCULLOCH was a son of Joseph McCULLOCH, a native of Scotland who went to New Orleans as a young man. In New Orleans, Joseph McCULLOCH married Miss Martha R. RAGNAL, of French descent, who was born in Charleston, SC. Thanks to Terry and Liz for your good wishes. It looks like Irene is headed straight for us, but it's only a category 1. Thank heaven! I live in a Category 2 evacuation zone. We had a scare last year with George, had to evacuate to a shelter, but it turned out to be nothing. We're expecting lots of rain, so I'm off now to fill sandbags with garden soil! My poor garden spot! Good thing I haven't planted it yet. Well, must go get "storm ready" - going to the store and stock up on chips and ice cream!! Keep those prayers coming! You know water does more damage than wind in a hurricane. Hi! I'm looking for the parents of TALLOULAH WILKINSON (married MICAH LaROCHE). Her father was one of the sons of FRANCIS LEGARE WILKINSON and EMILY MARGARET GIRARDEAU. The sons' names are: EDWARD GIRARDEAU; THOMAS GIRARDEAU; WARD MOTTE. Or she could be the child of FRANCIS WILKINSON, his son with his second wife EMMA SIMMONS. Any information, especially dates, on these people is helpful, since all I have at this time is names. Thanks! Deborah

Thought I would approach my Brick Wall from a different angle: My ggg grandparents are something of a mystery. John Morrison b. in Mass., married Sarah B. abt. 1823, d. 1829 in Charleston. He owned a "Snow" class ship/boat named "General Geddes" with which he made his living hauling freight to the Caribbean or possibly England. Could someone help me locate information about shipping in the Charleston area during this time frame? Are there web sites where I might obtain information about John Morrison and the General Geddes? I am also trying to find Sarah B.'s parents. Her maiden name may have been Barkley/Barclay. She was born in Charleston in 1801. Following the death of John Morrison, she married William B. Harwood in 1831/32. Sarah died Dec. 23, 1876 in Mobile, AL. If anyone can provide any information that would point me in the right direction, I would be SOooo appreciative! Anne W.

Ok, Charleston, enough is enough. You guys do not need this. There is no satisfaction from those of us in Florida who dodged the worst of it. Everyone in Charleston, get out of town. We are worried about you. I spoke with my sister in Mt.Pleasant and they are headed for Aiken along with their daughter, son-in-law and their baby. She packed her computer! Take care and God will do the rest. Frances in Ohio
S.C. Gov. Jim Hodges order a mandatory evacuation of his state's coast today as Hurricane Floyd --one of the most powerful storms to threaten the United States this century -- took further aim at South Carolina. About 800,000 people are in the coastal S.C. counties of Beaufort, Jasper, Colleton, Charleston, Berkeley, Georgetown and Horry. Hotels along Interstate 26 out of Charleston were booked as far north as Asheville,(5 to 6 hrs. away from Charleston) according to AAA office in Columbia. Charleston Mayor Joseph P. Riley Jr. said Tuesday he expected his entire city to be evacuated and anticipated the eyewall of the storm would pass over the metropolitan area. Forecasters say Floyd could hit land along the S.C. coast by early Thursday. If Floyd follows one projected path, it could come ashore near Edisto Beach, just south of Charleston. Bye guys...
