He and his wife died, leaving at least four small children, several of whom were raised in the Charleston Orphan House. By the time the children left the home, the spelling of the name had been shortened to Abrams. We have no idea if the family was Jewish or not...no family tradition or oral history, possibly because the children were raised in the Orphan House, I don't know.     3. I am searching for information on WILLIAM WESCOAT m. ANN BESWICK 8/5/17?9. She later married WILLIAM CHAPLIN on 1/19/1769. There is a WILLIAM WESCOAT shown on the 1800 census in the Charleston District. I know that this Ann had a nephew named W. PRESTON WESCOAT who fought and was wounded in the Civil War at Gettysburg. He may have later been killed in Virginia, but he appears on the 1860 census in St. Paul's Parish. Thanks for any info. Deborah
