Hi Edward, I thought that Willian Axson born 1767 to William and Mary was the oldest child and the other children : Jacob, Samuel and Robert were all born after William . I do not know what your source was for the date regarding Jacob .

CJK: Sorry, I do not have the source for the exile story. I am not able to keep all such information for the large database I have, but I also would like to know what a good source might be. The "Forbay" does appear to be the one. I was thinking it was perhaps the "Pack Horse" (or something similar). The server is working again, and I cut and pasted the following from Ancestry.com's database for St. Thomas/St. Denis records: Parent: William and Eliz'th Susn'h Mouzon Axson Child Name: Elizabeth; Jehu; John Birth Date: 12 Dec 1762; 29 Nov 1764; 29 Nov 1764 Baptism Date: 27 Feb 1763; 14 Apr 1765; 14 Apr 1765 Comment: Jehu, John, twins I would note that Elizabeth's sister, ANNE MOUZON, who married PETER DUBOIS [my line] also gave birth to twins--at least two sets. There is a lapse of 12 years in the records between their marriage and the birth of the first set of twins, leading me to believe they probably had other babies; after the first set of twins for which we have records, they had another five children. At least. It is my belief that this family either moved into Charleston or for some other reason switched churches, or else the occasional lapses in records for St. Thomas/St. Denis keeps us from knowing much about what happened to many of these families. In my own line, I can only document one child of the marriage of ANNE MOUZON and PETER DUBOIS--being PETER DUBOIS who married ANN CLARKSON CARNE [my line.]
Does any one have a date of death for William or Elizabeth ? This would help in the confussion as to which William Axson , she was married to. I had those Same dates as you posted, Thanks Elizabeth . Regarding the name being both wats , I have also ran across this in my research. She does get confussing . What is even worse there are several William Axsons that married ladies named Elizabeth .
I find it hard to understand how William had twins John and Jehu in November, 1764 by Susannah Mouzon, then in May, 1765, had Jacob by Mary Minott. Is the 1765 in error? Also, Susannah was said to have been still living and been exiled to Philadelphia when William was imprisoned by the British in 1780(date?). The next definite birth date I have for Mary Minott is 1768 for Samuel Edward. I think there were two William Axsons, perhaps cousins? John Axson's first wife was Martha Ann Arthur. Susannah Elizabeth/Elizabeth Susannah b. Sep. 21, 1746. Maybe that 1802 death date is hers. More puzzles. I just did a search in the St. Thomas/Denis records on Ancestry.com and came up with the marriage record for WILLIAM AXSON and ELIZABETH SUSANNA MOUZON on 8 October 1761. The server went down on me before I could look up SUSANNA ELIZABETH MOUZON. I would just comment that I have seen instances of these records reversing names, seeming to conflict with other records. Perhaps she was christened under one name but came to be known by the other name. SUSANNA E. had a sister, SUSANNA MARY, and perhaps the family decided to call the former ELIZABETH to avoid confusion. Or perhaps the christening name was in error. Elizabeth CJK1043@aol.com wrote: > > Hi Elizabeth, > Regarding William Axson , who married Elizabeth S Mouzon:
Betty is the MOUZON expert, but what I have is that SUSANNA ELIZABETH MOUZON was the daughter of WILLIAM HENRY MOUZON and ANN CORDES VIDEAU. Her birth date was 21 Sept. 1746. CJK1043@aol.com wrote: > > Do you have a birth date or death date for Elizabeth S Mouzon Axson ? > Who were her Parents ? >
Hi-- Thank you so much for replying. Would you mind sending me the subscription information? I live in CA and perhaps this would be a big help to me in my research of SC for my family. Pat Gore Smith
Edward is this what you are referring to : ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/sc/ships/forbay.txt FORBAY PRISON SHIP, CHARLES TOWN, HARBOUR, 18th May, 1781 Roll of the Militia Prisoners on board said Ship: Axson, Williams, Junr. Hi Elizabeth, Regarding William Axson , who married Elizabeth S Mouzon: This is one of those not sure of families . I believe this was William Axson , who was born 1739 , son of Samuel Axson b abt 1714. According to some records , William Axson b 1739 married Elizabeth S Axson , they had the 3 children you mention , ( their marriage date and the birth dates and christening dates of the children are in the St Thomas Records ) then William Axson married Mary Minnott , they had 4 children .( have their info if interested ), I can not find any records in regards to Jehu Axson . There is a lot about a "John Axson" who married 1st Martha Ann ( surname ? ) 2nd Mary Ann Gibbs . This couple had no children , but they had adopted Laura Washington Michau . But once again this all seems to fit but , I can not be sure in regards to his parents. Do you have a birth date or death date for Elizabeth S Mouzon Axson ? Who were her Parents ? From the St Philips Parish records there is an " Elizabeth Axson burial Sept 29, 1802 " Does any one have info in regards to her? CJK

Hi-- Can someone tell me about this publication? Nanismith
I have just learned about Charleston ancestors whose deaths are included in: The United States Catholic Miscellany, 1822 -1859 St. Lawrence Cemetery Register, 1852 - 1877 Could someone please tell me about these sources? Was "St. Lawrence Cemetery" associated with a church? If so, are there records available for this church? Daniel Daniel J. Kortenkamp dkortenk@uwsp.edu http://www.uwsp.edu/acad/psych/dk/danielpg.htm
Elizabeth: I have only that he was in the Rev. War and was imprisoned by the British on one of their rotten ships in Charleston harbor. Susannah was exiled to Philadelphia by the British. May have gotten that from you in the first place. Edward >I would love more information on WILLIAM AXSON. He was brother-in-law >to my 7X grandmother, ANNE MOUZON who married PETER DUBOIS.
