    3. John - If you should find a source for the information you seek, would you please post it here? I have been searching for the same type of information on my ancestor, John Morrison who was the owner/captain of the General Geddes. He sailed out of Charleston also in the 1820s. 3. I was told that Eliza Ann Purves Anderson, daughter of John Purves and Eliza Pritchard Purves, who died between 1840 and 1850, was buried there next to her sister. Eliza was married to Thomas Anderson. As her only sister, Mary Sarah, was buried in Edgefield in 1813, I wanted to check out the info and see who this person did find there. If anyone knows anything about these names, I would appreciate the information. Thanks very much for all of the responses. -----Original Message----- From: Melissa <melissab@cchat.com> To: SCCHARLE-L@rootsweb.com <SCCHARLE-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Saturday, August 19, 2000 7:56 AM Subject: Re: [SCCHARLE] First Baptist Church Cemetery >I have a copy of the WPA list of those buried if Myrna would send me a list >of her surnames! > >Melissa > >At 04:34 AM 8/19/00 -0400, you wrote: >>Myrna, >>Maybe if we can get everyone with Info from 1st Baptish Church Yard to post >>what they have , this would be a start . >>I have several AXSON family members buried there . >>What are the Surnames you are searching for ? >> >> >>==== SCCHARLE Mailing List ==== > > > > >==== SCCHARLE Mailing List ==== >

    3. Myrna, There might be a listing in the WPA cemetery listing at the SC Historical Society. I have ancestors that were early members of the church (John Raven, Sr., John Raven, Jr., and Elizabeth Beadon) and when I visited the church several years ago I was disappointed at how few graves were there. It's my understanding that most of the early burials, including my ancestors, are lost. I spoke to members of the staff at the time, but they knew of no old records of the missing graves.
