    3. Hi, I have never written to anyone on the internet concerning geneology. My wife is the research buff. I must let you know that there is a medway plantation between Charleston,S.C. and Savanah,Ga. I have been to it on several occasions. If we may be of any help to you in your research, just let us know. My family has been in the Charleston area since the 1700's. Good luck, Mike ! PS Prioleau is a local name in Charleston also. -----Original Message----- From: Frost Prioleau <hfrost@prioleau.com> To: SCCHARLE-L@rootsweb.com <SCCHARLE-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Friday, September 22, 2000 5:00 PM Subject: Re: [SCCHARLE] Medway Plantation (& Prioleau) >Linda McNish and Others > >I bought and read the interesting book "Medway" by Virginia Christian Beach >that you recommended. > >It contains a listing of all previous Medway owners, from Thomas SMITH >(1684), to HYRNE (1701), to others, to MARION (1827), to STONEY (1833), to >LEGENDRE (1829). > >My records show that Medway was bought by Rev. 3. Linda McNish and Others I bought and read the interesting book "Medway" by Virginia Christian Beach that you recommended. It contains a listing of all previous Medway owners, from Thomas SMITH (1684), to HYRNE (1701), to others, to MARION (1827), to STONEY (1833), to LEGENDRE (1829). My records show that Medway was bought by Rev. Elias PRIOLEAU around 1695 and stayed in the PRIOLEAU family until around 1880. I thought Col. Samuel (1690-1752), Col. Samuel (1717-1792), Samuel (1742-1813) and Martha PRIOLEAU(1745-1875) all used Medway and most of them were buried there. Are there two Medways ? Can anyone clear up this confusion ? 3. Cathedral Church of St. Luke & St. Paul is of the Anglican/Episcopal denomination. Will have to do some more research; however, I believe these were two separate churches which combined to form the Cathedral Church which is the seat of the Episcopal Diocese of Lower South Carolina. Try calling their office to find out more about the cemetery. 126 Coming Street 843-722-7345 fax 843-722-2105 Episcopal Diocese Office same location 843-722-4075 Debbie Barker is the poc there and probably has more information, in general, about all of the Episcopal records in Charleston. St Patrick's is a Roman Catholic church in Charleston since c. 1832. This church has most of its original record books which have been microfilmed. To my knowledge only one of their record books is missing. The Catholic Diocese of Charleston has excellent records and a wonderful Archives Office which is located very near the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist on Broad Street. linda mhoose@sc.rr.com ----- Original Message ----- From: Richard & Jeannette Byrd <r-j.byrd@ix.netcom.com> To: <SCCHARLE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, September 22, 2000 4:48 AM Subject: [SCCHARLE] Cathedral Church of St. Luke & St. Paul > List members: > > Does anyone know if there are burial records for the cemetery next to > The Cathedral Church of St. Luke & St. Paul located at 126 Comings > St. in Charleston? > > Richard V. 1. [SCCHARLE] Pastor inquiry...
    2. Hello, I have a family Bible notation that my grt grandparents William S. Fisher and Isadora Marion Woody were married on March 22, 1864 by a Rev. E. J. Winkler... Anyone know of such a pastor in the Charleston area... perhaps from Citadel Sq Baptist Church, since their first child William Francis Fisher is buried late the next year in the Cit. Sq. Baptist plot in Magnolia Cemetery. I was just down in your lovely city this weekend, but with all the other research I had to do, I had no time to check on this... Thanks. Timothy Fisher

    1. Re: [SCCHARLE] Cathedral Church of St. Luke & St. Paul
    2. Julie O. Perkins
    3. Richard, It is my understanding that the city block on which the Cathedral originally stood burned during the 1880's. The entire block burned, taking not only the Cathedral (and its records) but also the seminary, parochial day-school, and bishop's residence which adjoined it. My earliest immigrant ancestor came to Charleston in 1836 and was ordained a priest, probably at this seminary, before being appointed to the newly-formed St. Patrick's out in Charleston Neck. He brought siblings with him and I descend from a brother. However, I can find no records of these siblings (marriages, deaths, baptisms of children) at St. Patrick's. I am beginning to assume that the family originally belonged at the Cathedral and therefore their sacramental activities were recorded there. And subsequently lost to fire. If you find out something different, would you let me know? It would vastly alter my understanding of this history. Best wishes, Julie O'Neil Perkins At 04:48 AM 9/22/00 -0400, you wrote: >List members: > >Does anyone know if there are burial records for the cemetery next to >The Cathedral Church of St. Luke & St. Paul located at 126 Comings >St. in Charleston? 1. Re: [SCCHARLE] [Fwd: [Alabama] Re: [GAGEN-L] Fraudulent website]
    2. Hate to be the one to break the news, but there is nothing illegal about putting links to a wbsite on your site and charging for it. Anything you put on a website is there for the taking. Every year companies charge parents of graduating high school students fees to get what is actually free info about loans and scholarships. Companies also set up links to businesses and call them job links. One more thing, when you put your living relatives birthdates and maiden names out on the web for anyone to see, you are taking a big RISK. Think about all the things that this info can bring a stranger. Margie Scott, not to be confused with the Margie who posted the message with the above subjest line.
