Hi all, My daughter Jenn and I are going to start a project this summer of taking digital photos of Berkeley Co. cemetery entrances and all the headstones within. Yes this is a huge project. That is why I have come to the list to see if there are any shutterbugs out there who would like to spend a morning photographing a cemetery for the county page? I don't know how much my daughter and I, with my 6 month old granddaughter can accomplish in the couple of months they will be with us but I could sure use the help. The headstones are deteriorating with each passing day. We must insure to preserve this source of primary documentation. Yes, headstones can contain errors, but when it comes to the really old ones where no other documentation exists, they are priceless. I know personally since some of my direct line in East TN are now completely unreadable and they were readable in the 60's. So if you can give one day and own a camera we would love to hear from you. If we coordinate this effort to keep from duplication we could reach this goal of every cemetery being completed without over taxing anyone. Possibly persons with digital camera's could do the larger cemeteries so folks using regular cameras don't have to use too much film. This is only a suggestion so let me know what you think? If you belong to a older church and it isn't listed on the web page how about a write up with photo?? If you don't own a digital camera we can arrange to come out and take one for you. How about old church records?? We can take digital photos of the pages without removing these priceless resources from the church or damaging the pages. Just let us know what we can do to help. We would really like to generate some new resources for the county page. Let's make our county page really stand head and shoulders above the rest and show we all really care and respect our ancestors by keeping their memories alive for the next generation. Hope you all have a great spring day Take care Bushy Hartman mihartman@infoave.net
