Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JeB.2ACI/627 Message Board Post: This may be a long shot for you, but I have a copy of an index page to Grants 1695-1776 Where Samuel Chubb of Berkley County, SC received 150 acres in Saxegotha Township "Butting and bounding to the Northward on land part laid out to Hendrick Senn de Sneyder and part to Nicholas Ronnie, to the Eastward on Santee River to the Southward and Westward on Land not laid out and also 1 Town Lot within the Township aforesaid containing half of an acre know in the plat of the S:Town by number 20." Grant from George II As you can see we spell the name a little differently having descended from German ancestors. However, I have found our name spelled both ways in old records. Let me hear from you as I can trace the Chupps from SC into Georgia, if you think this may connect to your family somehow.
