THE FAMILY WAS LATER SEPARATED OR SPLIT UP DUE THE BUILDING OF THE HYDRO-ELECTRIC PLANT BETWEEN LAKE MOULTREE AND THE TAIL RACE CANAL. IF ANYONE HAS ANY INFORMATION RELATED TO OR INCLUDING JEFFREY AND GABRIELLA MARION, YOUR ASSISTANCE WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THERE SHOULD ALSO BE A CONNECTION TO THE ROLLERSON FAMILY COMING OUT OF WHAT IS CALLED CROSS, SOUTH CAROLINA.

SC Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/SC/Berkeley/10373 Surname: Wolfe, Irick ------------------------- My grandmother was Stella Geneva Wolfe married to John Bruce Limehouse. Stella's mother was Frances Irick, whom I found in the 1880 US Census in Orangeburg, Amelia twnship. Here she was alone with Stella. Her husband, John Beaureguard Wolfe, is found in the 1900 US Census living in St. James Goose Creek, Berkely, SC. All of Stella's brother and sister are there. John Wolfe has remarried. Stella is next door and is now married to John Bruce Limehouse. Fanny must have died around 1887 to 1893. I am looking for more family connections with both Fanny and John. Briths, places, burial places. Then I hope to connect back with their ancestors. I do know that John Wolfe was fireman on the railroad in 1900 but I don't know which one(s) ran thru this area. Thanks, John Bruce Limehouse
Hi all, My daughter Jenn and I are going to start a project this summer of taking digital photos of Berkeley Co. cemetery entrances and all the headstones within. Yes this is a huge project. That is why I have come to the list to see if there are any shutterbugs out there who would like to spend a morning photographing a cemetery for the county page? I don't know how much my daughter and I, with my 6 month old granddaughter can accomplish in the couple of months they will be with us but I could sure use the help. The headstones are deteriorating with each passing day. We must insure to preserve this source of primary documentation. Yes, headstones can contain errors, but when it comes to the really old ones where no other documentation exists, they are priceless. I know personally since some of my direct line in East TN are now completely unreadable and they were readable in the 60's. So if you can give one day and own a camera we would love to hear from you. If we coordinate this effort to keep from duplication we could reach this goal of every cemetery being completed without over taxing anyone. Possibly persons with digital camera's could do the larger cemeteries so folks using regular cameras don't have to use too much film. This is only a suggestion so let me know what you think? If you belong to a older church and it isn't listed on the web page how about a write up with photo?? If you don't own a digital camera we can arrange to come out and take one for you. How about old church records?? We can take digital photos of the pages without removing these priceless resources from the church or damaging the pages. Just let us know what we can do to help. We would really like to generate some new resources for the county page. Let's make our county page really stand head and shoulders above the rest and show we all really care and respect our ancestors by keeping their memories alive for the next generation. Hope you all have a great spring day Take care Bushy Hartman mihartman@infoave.net

I thought that HERITAGE PAPERS went out of business when Mrs. Warren stopped publishing Puzzlers the end of 1998. Not so!! I recently found the new websites for HERITAGE PAPERS as well as for FAMILY PUZZLERS, TNG, the monthly magazine edited by Mrs. Warrens daughter Amy Warren Sanders! Most of the items that Heritage Papers used to advertise in their annual catalog are still available, including back issues of the quarterly magazines GEORGIA GENEALOGIST and CAROLINA GENEALOGIST, lots of historic maps, as well as source materials for Virginia, North and South Carolina, and Georgia. Some bound volumes of Family Puzzlers are still available. For Heritage Papers, go to http://www.galaxymall.com/books/heritagepapers For Family Puzzlers, The Next Generation, go to http://www.galaxymall.com/books/familypuzzlers I just thought youd like to know, I did!! This note is being posted on several lists, so some persons will undoubtedly receive duplicates. For that I am sorry. In 1818, The John MCDOWELL Family was clearly established near Cainhoy, SC in St. Thomas Parish. There is fairly good information about the MCDOWELL Family after 1818 for at least one or two branches. Prior to 1818 this family tree has only leaves, roots and branches, but nothing linked and complete. If any of the following pieces ring a bell, I will gladly share information. Here are a few pieces from the MCDOWELL puzzle: 1. Archibald MCDOWELL died in 1729 in Christ Church Parish north of Charleston, SC. He and his wife, Mary, had two children. Their lineage becomes sketchy in the 1760's. It seems there are a lot of records missing. 2. William and John MCDOWELL enlisted in SC with Swamp Fox Francis MARION on the same day, July 16, 1778,and fought in the Revolutionary War. They were probably from St. James-Santee Parish or Prince George Parish when they joined. 3. My John MCDOWELL purchased North Hampton Plantation (3500 acres)near Cainhoy in St. Thomas Parish, SC, in 1818. He had two sons George Archibald MCDOWELL (b. 1809) and William Behn MCDOWELL. There was also a daughter Ann McDowell SWINTON. One of John McDowell's sons, George Archibald MCDOWELL moved to Texas in 1842, William stayed in SC to run the plantations north of Charleston. 4. Through the years there were several marriages between the MCDOWELL Family and the HAMLIN Family of Christ Church and St. Thomas Parish, SC. 5. There likely were connections with Archibald MCDOWELL from Georgetown in the mid-1700's. He was apparently a surveyor. 6. John MCDOWELL witnessed the will of Thomas BOONE in 1749 in Christ Church Parish. 7. Archibald MCDOWELL of St. Phillips Parish (Charleston) was administrator for John MCDOWELL's of Christ Church Parish in 1784. 8. Another Archibald MCDOWELL was a member of the State House of Representatives from nearby St. James- Goose Creek in 1806. I have gathered many other bits and pieces, but haven't yet been able to locate the Rosetta stone linking them together. Any help or advice would be appreciated. I have more to share if anyone is interested. I am told many records were burned by the Yankees when they invaded South Carolina in the 1860's. It seems that he went to live with his brother Rowland Story about 1718 as a 13 year old. He married Mary Ellis March 10 1728/29 in St. Andrews Parish per The South Carolina Historical and Genealogical Magazine Society Vol. XIII 26. I know that Zachariah was living in 1732 on James Island, Perotown, SC. Zachariah Story's daughter, Elizabeth married Ephraim Mosher in Dutchess County, New York in 1750. He was a Quaker. Was there a Quaker group in James Island in the early 1700's? Also where can I go for more information about Zachariah Story. I know that he died in the malaria epidemic of 1732. His wife married a Sisson and moved with her two children to Dutchess County, New York. Also where would I find the Will of Zachariah Story, I just have the Abstract. Any help would really be appreciated. Leslie

Here it says that Job de St. Julian Marion was born before 1754 to Job and Elizabeth Marion. He died in 1828. He has a son named Francis Marion who was born in 1774 and who married Maria Pierce. Job de St Jualians father, Job, was the brother of Francis Marion, the "Swamp Fox". The Marions lived in Berkley County. I suggest contacting the Berkley County, South Carolina or the York County, South Carolina libraries.
