    3. Posted on: Berkeley Co.& Old Berkeley/Craven Co. SC Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/SC/Berkeley/10378 Surname: HUGGINS, SPRY ------------------------- Am searching for anyone else doing research on JOHN HUGGINS, who died in Christ Church Parish, Berkeley Co. S. C. in ca. 1743 and left a Last Will & Testament. He was my 7th gr. grandfather. One of his daughters was Mary Huggins, who married PHINEAS SPRY in So. Carolina. The LW&T of Joseph Huggins (1761 St. George Parish, Craven Co. SC), who was a brother of Mary (Huggins) Spry, mentions "my nephews, Henry Spry, Royal Spry, and Samuel Spry". Unfortunately, the LW&T of Phineas Spry (dated 1742) is among the so-called "lost wills of South Carolina".

SC Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/SC/Berkeley/10377 Surname: Joy, Rowser ------------------------- I am seeking information on Richard Joy, son of Moses and Mary Rowser Joy. Richard Joy was born September 4, 1739 in Christ Church Parish, Berkeley County, South Carolina. His birth is given in Register of Christ Church Parish published in the South Carolina History Magazine. Abstracts of wills of Charleston Dist SC also contains an abstract of a will (written and probated in late 1783) for a Richard Joy. The will abstract mentions children James, John, Susannah, and Martha. Researchers believe they have the son John. Does anyone know about James Joy?

    3. Posted on: Berkeley Co.& Old Berkeley/Craven Co. SC Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/SC/Berkeley/10376 Surname: Mims ------------------------- Not sure if this will help, but a Thomas Mims is said to have married Eliza Smith. Eliza was the daughter of William Smith and Mary Risher Smith who resided in part of what is now Berkely County. Mary Risher Smith was a daughter of Benjamin Risher, Senior and Mary de le Fontaine, some purists prefer to refer to her as Mary Fontaine. Benjamin Risher, Senior was a Revolutionary War veteran and settled in Colleton County after the war. Apparently, at least two of his children, a son named Francis Risher, and daughter Mary resided in Berkley County. J. Russell Cross in his book, "Historic Ramblin's Through Berkeley," points out that on May, 17, 1843 a Thomas Mims was elected as a trustee of the Spring Hill Methodist Church. Thomas Mims appears to have been a captain in the local militia.
