SC Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/SC/Berkeley/10405 Surname: Dennis, Ayers, DeHay, Hyrne, Weeks, Wienges, McCants ------------------------- I am trying to find the parents of my gr, gr, gr grandfather William J Dennis (buried at Mt Olivet Baptist Cemetary in Cross, SC). He was born in 1802 in Berkeley County/Charleston County. His first wife was Elizabeth Ann (1819-1835) who is buried next to him with their 21 day old infant Albert. His second wife was Sarah McCants and they had several children Frances A, Virginia, William James, Sarah Elizabeth, Gen Edward James (my gr, gr grandfather), Albert Reed, and Charles Fleetwood Dennis. I know that he bought and sold a decent amount of land, including Hog Swamp and Fair Springs Plantations (now flooded by Lake Moultrie). William's son, Edward James(my gr, gr grandfather), was a SC State Senator and Representative. Edward's son, Edward James Sr, and his grandson, Rembert Coney followed in his footstep and represented Berkeley County in the SC State Senate and House of Representatives. Please let me know if you have any information or suggestions on how I can find information on William J's mother and father. William J died before the Civil War and was too young to be in the War of 1812. Thanks
