Under the title of TAYLORS, CROSBYS AND BOULWARS OF FAIRFIELD COUNTY, I found DENNIS CROSBY, b Dec 11, 1724 in Craven County, Berkley, S. C. is the son of WILLIAM CROSBY b 1696 in Berkly Co., S. C. and SUSANNAH BENTON, b abt 1695 in Craven Co., s. c. Dennis married Hanna Revels about 1748 in S. C. There is a write up on William Crosby b 1696 that states a land patent was granted to William Crosby of 200 acres. Also, his father is THOMAS CROSBY b bef 1670 in Virginia, mother is unknown >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I think you may be right. The tree shows the father of Dennis to be William Crosby (1696, Berkley Co. SC). But I am still a little confused. I am certain that I saw a William m. to Ane or Ana Swala in print as the father of Dennis. More importantly, since what I am really after the country of origin for this line of SC Crosbys, where did the reported father and ancestors of William come from- one Thomas 1640, of Virginia? Where did this Thomas come from in Virginia, what county? I have a number of references to Thomas Crosby in Virginia around this time frame. I would just love to know where they originally migrated from. Crosby Turner, Atlanta
Hello all, Just returned from working on more photographs of headstones and passed a few headstones in an overgrown field located on Old Whitesville Road. It is across the street and north a bit from Mack Jackson Cemetery. Would anyone know what this cemetery is called? It contained the following stones: Frank Gailliard b. 23 Mar 1946; d. 11 Feb 1980 Ardell W. Greene b. 22 Feb 1936; d. 27 Feb 1979 Lucille Ros b. 24 Dec 1893; d. 30 Jun 1970 Evelyn Gadsden b. 21 Oct 1889; d. 5 Jan 1958 The spelling may be wrong but I'll correct that once we download the photos, we were trying to hurry since there was really nowhere to pull into. We photographed them and they will be on the Berkeley Co. web page possibly by this weekend. I also wanted to mention there are four marble very new looking stones that may have been vandalized. They have been pushed off their bases and do not contain names. One appears to show signs of possibly a nameplate being removed. Just wanted to pass that along incase anyone should know the family and they may want to pursue ways to protect the stones. Thanks so much Bushy Hartman mihartman@infoave.net

She has furnished me with a great deal of information about this line including a family record done by John J Simons in 1857. He says that Joseph Coachman and Margaret Belin were married in Georgetown District in the year 1789. If you do not have a copy of this I will be happy to send you one. J.M.C., as he was called, had 8 children. His oldest son was Manly Juhan Breaker. Manly Juhan stayed in Missouri when his father (J.M.C.) and family moved to Houston in April of 1877 to pastor First Baptist Houston. Manly Juhan Breaker (J.M.C.'s oldest son that stayed in Missouri) was married to Mary Timmes. She died in 1888, leaving her husband and five children. Their names were -- Mary (Mrs. L.W. Baker), Emma Hornby (Mrs. W. C. Lambert), Paul Timmes Breaker, Ernest Robert Breaker, and the Honorable George Juhan Breaker. Manly Juhan Breaker did marry a second time. I just read a previous message on this board with her name on it. I'm pretty sure you are from this man's family. J.M.C.'s other 7 children were George H., Henry C., Anna, Emma, Etta, Lewis F. -- all of Houston -- and daughter D. G. (Mrs. Albert Miller --who lived in Austin) J.M.C. youngest son, my great grandfather was Lewis F. Breaker (named after J.M.C.'s father Lewis Frederick Breaker from Charleston, South Carolina). Please e-mail me at bmarcontell@tyler.net. I have much more information to share and hope you have some you can share with me.

In his files he states that Joseph Coachman was married to Margaret Du Bose the daughter of Elias Du Bose and Lydia Castles. I may have confused the lineage, Where did your documentation of Margaret Belin come from? You apparently have done a great deal of work on this line. I am determined this year to straigten out this line and my maple line. For now the Cantey and the Broughton line are coming along, but the Maple line is still illusive and now there is another one with William Cantey marrying a Martha Maples. Would you like me to send you a GEDCOM of what I have of how can we exchange information? How is your book coming along? Is Stephen Ford Coachman dead and what is his relationship to the Joseph Coachman and Margaret Family? Do you know anything about Mary Lynch Coachman who married John James Simons? Thanks for being a treasure trove in information.....Marsha
