I had gotten some of the same information from another researcher. At least what I have gotten on the Mims agrees with what you sent to me. I was just curious about the Murrells. I wanted to know if they were the same family as the Murrells who Murrell's Inlet was named for. I have read the book "Tales Along the Grandstrand of SC". It mentions Captain John Murrell. William Wallace Mims was a relative of my grandmother Charlotte "Lottie" Lee Odom Plummer. Thanks again! Susan

Martha Jane had a brother Robert Murrell Severance b 1808-1887 and they were children along with 10 other brothers and sisters of Paul Severance and Hannah Huggins both 1770's to 1840's. Paul was son of Thomas Severance and Susannah Murrell. she was daughter of Robert Murrell Jr. 1693-1762 and Susannah Farr. Robert was Born in Essex Co., MA but died in Berkeley Co., SC. His father was Robert Sr. born before 1670 in Isle of Jersey England who emigrated to the Massachusetts Bay, but later moved his family to Berkeley Co., SC. This is what I've taken from the net so far.

Surnames: Severance, Barton, Murell, White, Fairchild Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JeB.2ACI/647 Message Board Post: I am looking for a Severance family which may be the same as or confused with a Severance family from Boston, MA in about 1700. The crossover point is a John Severance II and wife Catherine, possibly a Fairchild. This John was born 1676 in Boston. At some point, some sources say he emigrated to Berkeley Co with his wife Catherine then had a son John III in 1702 who married Ann Barton. Their son Thomas c 1738 married Susannah Murrell and they had Paul and Robert Murrell who moved up to Darlington Co where there are a number of Severences living to this day. There is another tradition too. A John Severance and wife Catherine came from Europe about 1700 and had a Daughter Sarah Severance who married a John White and these descendants stayed in Berkeley and Georgetown. This John died in 1740 also in Darlington and there doesn't seem to be a record of his having a son John. Are these the same John/Catherine or were there two Mary
