The Cleveland native was a 1936 graduate of Hathaway Brown and a 1940 graduate of Connecticut College for Women with a degree in sociology and economics. She had a vacation home on Hilton Head Island since 1972 and made it her permanent residence in 1997. She lived most of her life in Elyria, Ohio, until 1994. She was a volunteer for Elyria Memorial Hospital and served as volunteer coordinator. SURVIVORS: her husband, Henry R. B. Irish; a daughter, Peggy Irish Close; four grandchildren, Kathryn Virkler Harris, Margaret Eleanor Austin, Drayton Timms Virkler and Oliver H. I. Austin; and two great-grandsons, Crosby Richardson Harris and Parker Everett Harris. MEMORIAL SERVICE: 4 p.m. Saturday at All Saints Episcopal Church. The Island Funeral Home, Hilton Head Island.
