The 1790 census lists a Philip (with three free white persons & 13 slaves), a Chas (with eight free whites & 230 slaves), and a "Jno" (probably a misspelling, with five free whites & 20 slaves). We have reason to believe that John, or "Jno," was born in Beaufort in the 1750s. We would appreciate any information on these individuals, especially names of their wives & descendants, or about other Givens in early SC.
