I know nothing about my grandfather Sammie/Sam/Samuel Bryan past his listing in the 1920 census and his death certificate. Since my last post, I found out that my grandmother Mamie Bryan was the adopted daughter of Julius Washington(born sometime between 1859 and 1864), an attorney, legislator, and namesake of the first library opened to African Americans in Beaufort - now closed), according to his obituary.
