My father, Hammond David Bryan (shows up as David Bryan in the 1920 census) was born in 1917. His father was Samuel(Sammie)Bryan b. 1880, and his mother was named Mamie Bryan (maiden name was Washington), b. 1887. There were 3 sons: Nelson, Sam, and my father. On the 1920 census, someone named Eloise Alston shows up as Sam and Mamie's daughter. I was 8 when my father died in 1971, so I know next to nothing about his side of the family. The thing is that although my father told my mother about his brothers, he never mentioned this Eloise person. I can not find any information on her except on the 1920 census where she is listed as Eloise Alston, daughter. I have also looked up Eloise Bryan. I found one in the 1910 census. The age coincides with how old Eloise Alston would have been 10 years earlier but that does not mean that is the same person. I hope someone has some information.
