I am looking for information regarding Phillips Hedderly, born 1722, who migrated to South Carolina from Lincoln, England. He appears on a muster roll for 1756 and by 1761 was resident in St. Helenas. He was sued for debt (as Philip Hederly) by John Gordon and Gray Elliott, Beaufort Merchants, in that year. He married a widow, Mary Williams in St. Helenas in 1768 and they had at least one child, Sarah. Any information, particularly regarding his trade, (his father was a bellfounder), would be most gratefully received. John Hedderly in Devon, England

I'm pretty certain that the "other" son, Robert "Shorty" Palmer, is one and the same as the proprietor of www.goatskins.com. You can find contact information on that webpage. Looking at the dates of the obits, etc., I think that grandchild #3 was probably born the year after the Manny obit, accounting for the discrepancy between two and three grandchildren. I know nothing about Billy Palmer, but Shorty and Sandra have three children.

A researcher believes Simmons 1st name may have been Benjamin. Jesse Thomas Williams married Henrietta Stanfield. Would like info on Winn families that may have had a son with initials L. P. born about 1826 in SC. L. P. Winn moved to AL before 1850, where he married and had several children. He appeared in only one census there because he died before 1860. He seems to have no other connections in the AL area. Any information on what his initials stand for or who his parents are would be appreciated.

GOD BLESS AMERICA! Hello, Janet! I would bet money on it. Info I have found at http://www.familysearch.org indicate: James Roberts - born 1784 in SC - buried in Swift Creek Cemetery, Union Co, Fl Father is James Roberts - born 1758 in SC Married Temperance Davis - born 1790 in Whippy Swamp, SC - buried in Polk Co, FL James Roberts (born 1784) & wife, Temperance Davis Roberts, were baptized in 1826 as members of Prince Williams Primitive Baptist Church, Beaufort Co, SC Children of James Roberts & Temperance Davis Roberts: 1. James Brince Roberts - born 1810 in SC 2. Celia Roberts - born 1812 in SC - buried in Polk Co, FL 3. William James Roberts - born 1816 in SC - buried in Polk Co, FL 4. Nathan Miles Roberts - born 1820 in Beaufort Co, SC - buried in Swift Creek Cemetery, Union Co, FL 5. John Irvin Roberts - born 1822 in SC Celia Roberts married William Harris.they are in the household of P. Harris for the 1850 census of Colleton Co, SC.they are in Beaufort Co, SC for prior census enumerations.by the 1870 census, they are in Polk Co, FL.this is my "Harris branch". Children of William Harris & Celia Roberts Harris (on the 1850 census): 1. Sarah A. Harris - age 20 - born 1830? 2. Tabitha Harris - age 18 - born 1832? 3. Maria Harris - age 16 - born 1834? 4. John Harris - age 12 - born 1838? 5. Celia Harris - age 10 - born 1840? 6. Mary C. Harris - age 4 - born 1846? 7. Irvin O'Bryan Harris - age 2 - born 1848? 8. Samuel Jamerson - age 16 - farm laborer (do not if related yet) Sarah A. Harris married John W. Costine of Colleton Co, SC Tabitha Harris married Cader Douglass in Columbia Co, FL Maria Harris never married - so all info indicates John Harris married Margaret E. Hancock in Polk Co, FL Celia Harris married Benjamin Tyre Mary C. Harris married Richard T. Caddin of Colleton Co, FL Irvin O. Harris married Susan Jane Glover in Polk Co, FL Franklin B. Harris (born after 1850) married Salome Jane Kirkland in Polk Co, FL Jane Deecles (born 1855?) - unknown relation - is on 1870 census with William & Celia Roberts Harris & is mentioned in the will of William Harris William H. Harris is on the 1850 census of Columbia Co, FL with the family of William James Roberts & his wife, Delila Harris Roberts.suspect that William H. Harris & Delila Harris Roberts are brother & sister and also children of William Harris & Celia Roberts Harris. Note: all the above finally settled in the area of Polk, Lake, Sumter counties of FL There are Florida land patents online for William Harris, John W. Costine, Cader Douglass, Cannon Tyre, & William J. Roberts in Columbia/Union Counties during 1855-1860. Several of these families are on the 1860 census for New River Co, FL There are Florida Confederate Pension Applications online for William H. Harris, John W. Costine, Richard T. Caddin, John M. Harris, & Benjamin Tyre... The key to all of this is James Roberts aka James I. Roberts - born 1784.his father, James Roberts aka James H. Roberts - born 1758 - we think is related to all the Roberts of Beaufort/Colleton/Jasper/Hampton Counties of SC, and could very well be a unknown/undocumented descendant of Rev. Pierre Robert. I also think there is an older connection between this "Harris" family to the "Roberts/Robert" family.because of the custom of inter-family marriages of that time period. Any clues/leads on these families will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time & assistance!!
