I've "rescued" two old photographs belonging to the KOEHLER Family the first a family photograph including Florella H.; George W.; William M.; William G. R.; Margaret E.; Virgil X.; Eldora Lois; and Sarah Lura KOEHLER which was taken at the Aristo Studio in Maryville, TN on 9 Aug 1909. The children range in age from 2 years to 17 years. All their birth dates are written on the back of the photograph as well as their names. The second photograph is one the KOEHLER Twins, Eugene Ludwig and Sarah Lura KOEHLER b. 12 Aug 1907. It is noted that Eugene Ludwig "Louie" died 1 Aug 1908. There is no studio or location indicated on this second photograph though the twins appear to be less than one year old at the time. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding this KOEHLER Family: William Gottlieb Reinhold KOEHLER was b. 27 Nov 1866 in Dickinson Co. KS to parents Rev. Reinhold Garr KOEHLER (b. 1834) and Emily KOEHLER (b. 1838). William was one of 6 children born to this couple including, William G. R.; Jane; Emily; Eliza; Dole; and Reinholdt KOEHLER, all born between 1866 and 1879. William married Florella H. HESS (1867-1909) on 27 May 1890 in Momence, IL and together they had 9 children including, William McKinley; Reinhold James; James Ransom; Margaret Emily or Emilie; George William; Virgil Xenophen; Florella Hess; Eldora Lois; Eugene Ludwig; and Sarah Lura KOEHLER, all born between 1890 and 1909. William was a Printer and Newspaper man and he died 28 Feb 1938 and is buried in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Tampa, FL. His wife Florella H. HESS KOEHLER was b. 16 Feb 1867 in Momence, IL to parents James HESS (1840-1908) and Margaret OLDS (1845-1937). Florella had at least 6 siblings including, Sarah; Bertha; George Andrew; Alford or Alfred; Margaret P. (married BURTON); and Lois Mary (later married TANHEY) HESS, all born between 1867 and 1882. Florella died 11 Apr 1909 in Maryville, TN and is buried in the Shrontz Cemetery in Momence, IL along with family members. Margaret Emilie KOEHLER was b. 5 Jul 1892 in Walnut, IA to William and Florella KOEHLER and married Ralph Russell CANNONS (1896-1956) and together they had two children including, William George CANNONS (1918-1979) and Harry Virgil CANNONS (1921-1994). Margaret died in 1972. William M. KOEHLER was b. 8 Aug 1896 and died 9 Jul 1978 and is buried in the Mountain View Cemetery in Pocatello, ID. Florella KOEHLER was b. 22 Aug 1898 and married Earle STAFFORD (1897-1963) and she died 24 Jun 1974 in Ashland, KY and is buried in the Rose Hill Burial Park and Mausoleum in Ashland, KY. Virgil Xenophone KOEHLER was b. 16 Sept 1900 in Perrysville, IN to these same parents and married Clara S. (b. 1906) and together they had two children. Virgil died 22 Nov 1964 in Hillsborough Co. FL. Eldora Lois KOEHLER was b. 19 Feb 1903 in Perrysville, IN to these same parents and married Mr. BOYD. She died 22 Jul 1990 in Greensboro, NC. Sarah Lura KOEHLER was b. 12 Aug 1907 in Maryville, TN to these parents and married Charles Finney WAKELAND (1915-1978) and together they had a daughter, Sarah Florella WAKELAND who was born and died in 1944. Sarah died 22 Jan 1979 in Tampa, FL. Eugene Ludwig KOEHLER was also born 12 Aug 1907, Sarah's twin brother and he died in August 1908 at the age of one year. I have not found a Boston family connection to them but it may be through a second marriage. The timeframe would have to be prior to 1850 if it happened in GA or SC. Author: dqh0 Surnames: SIMMONS Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.southcarolina.counties.beaufort/334/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello everyone, I am an amateur at this and have hit a wall. I have been researching my grandfathers SIMMONS side of the family from the Beaufort/Hampton County/Prince Williams/Whippy Swamp area of South Carolina. He just tuned 80 and doesn't know anything at this level and I am trying to get it together for him as best as I can. I have made it as far back to who I believe is named some form of WILLIAM (or WM or W. M.) SIMMONS, born around 1830-1832 in SC based on the 1860 census, but do not know a true birth/death date or any other details other than what is on the 1860 census. He married a SARAH MIX(S)ON based on one of his childrens death certificates, who was a couple of years younger than he was based on the census. I have not run across SARAH's death date, as there are quite a few SARAH MIX(S)ONS in the area and pinning her details down is difficult as well. I know he had a son named WILLIAM JOSIAH SIMMONS, born in Hampton County on 29 Dec 1853 and died 8 Mar 1920, who married URSULA H GRAY, born 1848 and died somewhere between 1900 and 1910. They had a son named WILLIAM A SIMMONS, born 1878 and died 1945, who married GATSIE E PRIESTER, born 1880 and died 1941. WILLIAM also had a daughter named ELIZABETH L SIMMONS, born 1856 and died 1942, who married JOHN F LIGHTSEY, born 1842 and died 1904. He had other daughters named RACHEL SIMMONS in 1859 but I have no further details. I have found *plenty* of SIMMONS above them, but can't connect WILLIAM, possibly born between 1830-1832 with any of them. If any of these names rings a bell, our whole family would greatly appreciate any insight you could provide! Thanks again! At the time, she was living in Ward 10, Charleston, Charleston, South Carolina. Furthermore, she was listed as black on census records in St Helena Island. Perhaps she had been adopted. They are Black but may also be listed as Mulatto. Thomas or Lymus or Limus Williams, his wife's name was Eliza, they are my gr. grandparents. However I don't know a lot about them since they had passed away by the time I was born. I've been searching this information since about 2000 and no hits at all. It's like my family didn't even exist. Please I hope someone who see's this has some connection to give me some info to help me move along in my search. I've not really moved on since I started over 12 yrs. ago, no new info for me at all. Really need someone to help or that may have info to reply.
