    3. My brother, who was quite a good amateur photographer, told me to use some rubbing alcohol on a Q-tip and gently touch the slide with it to remove mildew. I suppose the same would work for the dust. Or how about one of those cans of air?     3. Q-tip is a brand name for a cotton ball on a stick. I guess some sections of the country might call them a cotton bud. Apparently it does not leave bits when it is wet with the alcohol. Why not try it with a slide you do not care about and see what happens. My brother lived in the Marshall Islands and mildew was quite a problem over there. It seems to have worked for him.
