Ray, You won't necessarily get greater resolution from scanning slides or film than from scanning prints. Whether you do or not depends mostly on the size of the original and the resolution of the scanner. For example if scanning an 8x10 print at 600 dpi you will get much higher resolution than if scanning a 1x1 inch negative at 2400 dpi. However...what will be much better when scanning film or slides rather than prints are the dynamic range and the contrast.
