If so, please give me your thoughts about it, or >anyone else have an opinion? I have an EpsonStylusPhoto R300 printer (6 color) and an Epson Perfection Photo 3170 scanner. I am very pleased with the performance. The retail price totally is about the same as the R600. They do the same things and have the same resolution as the RX600. You can go to the Epson site and compare. One thing I noticed is my R300 prints custom labels on CD's. I couldn't find this feature listed with the 600. I was really amazed how well the scanner revitalized my 35mm color slides - they were 50 years old. I printed them on glossy paper and they looked great. There are other brands that can probably to the job as well, I can only report on the Epson. As for pricing, check the stores such as Office Depot for sales - ask about coming sales. I got mine at $50 off suggested retail.
Good Morning! I recently purchased a Umax FS180 - it's small, but I think it will do the job I want. It uses SilverFast. My problem is that I cannot figure out how to print a negative once I have scanned it, so it looks like a photo instead of a negative. The manual is no help, and the on-line instructions/faqs are so much gobbledy-gook to me. I know this is an amateur's question, and probably dumb, but I'll try to ask only one dumb question per message. Please explain what I need to do in very simple steps. Thank you! Pat M. Pat, Simple steps? Okay. 1. Read the Manual cover-to-cover -- get to know the machine you purchased. 2. While reading the Manual, watch for something to do with "Scan Material," "Source Material," or similar language. Your choices would be something like: "Reflective," "Negative," or "Positive." (Your mileage may vary.) Of course, noting your aversion to reading the Manual, you could always use your image editing software (that's the program you are printing from) to simply "Invert" or "Reverse" the image.
