Hello Bob I believe that responding privately defeats the purpose of the list. I for one, am glad to see people make their recommendations public. That is what helps get the conversations going Please reconsider and let the list know your opinion. Thank you George in Rochester NY Luck is when preparation meets opportunity! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bob Battaglia" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, February 13, 2004 5:55 PM Subject: Re: [SP] Re: Film & Slide Scanners At 03:58 PM 2/13/2004, you wrote: >Name and model of scanner for 35mm slides, please. I only know the scanner I bought last month works great compared to some of the earlier ones I had.

So here it is: The model I have is an Epson Perfection 3170 Photo. I got it at Best Buy for about $190. It scans documents, black & white negatives and 35mm color slides. The software with it is great and it includes Adobe Elements PhotoShop 2 - if you want to touch up. I really haven't used Adobe, the slides came thru without need for touch-ups. There are other scanners on the market, but this one works great and is priced right. You can read more about it on the Epson Scanner site at http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/consumer/consDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid=35836301 I also bought a 2.0 USB card with 3 plug-in slots since my computer came with the 1.0 USB. It works either way, the 2.0 increases speed a little. I have been waiting for the Epson printer, R300. It is a six color printer that says that it prints labels on "ink jet printable" CD's. Retail is about $180. It is sold out all over the country. My order at OfficeMax is 5 weeks old now. The Epson website store is also out. Everyone is waiting for re-supply. Makes me wonder if there was a problem with it and they are re-tooling something. Epson responded to my email, stating they were just sold out and the retail outlets would get re-suppy before the Epson on-line store. See at http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/consumer/consDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid=37472318 Hope this helps. These are my thoughts and not a commercial.
Thanks Bob, much appreciated. Ron D >Thanks for your thoughts.
