    3. I'm not sure if this is the appropriate forum for this question, but have any of you had experience transferring 8mm and/or Super 8 movie film to a digital format that could then be saved on CD or DVD? Any tips, tricks, good books, or web sites? Thanks! _________________________________________________________________ Add photos to your e-mail with MSN 8. 3. Check out http://www.moviestuff.tv They do transfers and also sell equipment for you to do. I have no experience with the company but have been trying to learn how to transfer my 8 mm movies from the 50s to CD or DVD. 3. Years ago we set up the 8mm & Super 8 movie projectors, adjusted the speed to minimize flicker and aimed the video camera at a good (silver surface) movie screen. Don't know of any way to transfer film unless there is a working projector available. Copied an edited two-camera wedding tape to a 600 mb AVI file on CD-R back in 1998. Pictures were good but the marriage didn't last. Started making data DVDs in November and the first few with a mix of FTM files, pictures and research notes were fine. Today there was a problem with too many files or possibly file names that were too long. The total was around 4.2 GB. If you have a way to get from the movie film to a digital video camera, I can tell you about software purchased for writing DVDs. One particular brand of cameras always seems to work better than adaptors needed with other brands. 3. Try shutting down your computer, disconnect the scanner, and re-boot. Then shut-down again, re-connect the scanner, re-boot and see if Windows detects "new hardware". May work. The scanner works again and I have the icon back where I wanted it and it works, also. You sure were a big help! Thanks to everyone who replied. It's nice to know there's help available when you need it.

    3. Every now and then, my Microtek "ScanMaker E3" refuses to be "recognized". It then becomes necessary to turn off the scanner and pull the SCSI plugs at BOTH ends ,AND reboot. Usually it will work for quite a while, then out of the blue I have to do it all over again. I have no idea why. Lacking a better reason, I blame it on Microsoft.
