If you are trying to enlarge a thumb nail picture to get a useable picture, the answer is probably no. There are just not enough pixels available in a thumb to create anything much larger. Your program may try to interpolate the missing pixels, but I don't think you will be happy with the results. Ron >----- Original Message ----- >From: "Nick Ashby" >> >Is there any way I can enlarge thumb nail pictures to s decent size > > > >
I use Paint Shop Pro to print multiple pictures without captions on a single page and FTM 10 scrapbooks to print multiple pictures with selected details in captions. Current project in FTM has about 200 images for a single individual sorted by date. Do you want to share larger thumbnail pictures or use them for reference? There are some specialized thumnail programs but I've never found a use for them in addition to genealogy and scanning software products used daily. Windows XP also has a number of image options that reduce the need for thumbnail products. I usually put "TEST - IGNORE" in the subject line. This means that other listers can delete the message without opening it - and are thus spared from reading that they should have ignored it! One reason: if you write to an address with the word "request" in it, it means that it goes to a human for action. Someone is either not reading these requests from people wanting to unsubscribe, or is unaware that he/she has to take action to unsubscribe those people. I agree it is hard to find. I am happy that you were able to solve your problem. You didn't annoy or offend me. I need help sometimes too. Elizabeth, What a good idea, I'm glad you talked about this. It will be my first project with the (hopefully) new digital Christmas camera. Thanks. I would like to apologize to Ambrose and anyone else on the mailing list that I annoyed or offended. By way of explanation: The old e-mail address I had AND the address I was sent when I subscribed a couple of days ago were incorrect. Hence my messages did not appear on the list or in my E-mail. The test was the only way I could think of to find out if a different address would work. As it turned out, the correct address worked to get my messages to the list. I get the messages that other people write to the list in my inbox, but not my own. I find this a little strange, but I can live with it. I appreciate that Ambrose wrote to me directly. I am only replying to the entire list because he said I was annoying everyone. If this is so, I apologize to all of you. I agree...they put us at first under "technology", now under "miscellaneous". I have no control over that... but a Whole Lot of people have found the list, so I guess it's OK. I have just been reminded that earlier, the address for this list was scanners-photos-L/[email protected] The "tech" part has been removed, so if your postings aren't getting through, please to change your address book. None of us got any warning on that one. Ann
Just testing. Please ignore. Ron
Hello all! I have been reviewing the archives and decided to subscribe again until I get too busy and have to unsubscribe again. One thing - I had a heck of a time trying to find the mailing list on RootsWeb so I could subscribe. Finally had to do a google to find you. Seems like it should be easier to find a mailing list from the RootsWeb home page. Of course, it may have been staring me in the face and I just missed it. I noticed a lengthy discussion in the archives about using Iomega ZIP and JAZ disks to archive images. I don't want to revisit the arguments pro and con, but I would like to relate the following to those who use them. Within the last couple of days I pulled out a ZIP disk to recover an image that I needed. While trying to open the folder I found images that wouldn't open because of bad data. I ran the Zip and Jaz testing system developed by Steve Gibson http:/grc.com and found that I had some bad sections that couldn't be read. So, I transferred all of the images that could be saved to my hard drive and reformatted the Zip disk. Then it tested OK. I had the lost images on other backups (I never rely on just one) so I didn't lose anything. Point is, we need to test our Iomega disks every so often. If you are not familiar with the Zip test, it is called Trouble in Paradise, TIP.2.1 and can be found at the above URL. The beauty of it is when it finds errors on a disk it moves the data to a good sector and saves it. And it's free. Of course, that only works if the data isn't so far gone that it can't be read. Happy ending - I tested the rest of my archived disks and they were all OK. Ron
This is just another test. Please ignore. Ron
Not all shopping here but the mail volume has dropped off in most of my lists. Scanning items to share with friends and relatives in holiday mail. Planning to scan one of grandpa's stone mason tools with his name imprinted in the metal. Many small, handmade Christmas tree ornaments were scanned for an earlier project before purchase of a digital camera with a closeup feature. Need to shop for a credit card size holder with neck strap to carry a tiny new digital camera 2.25" x 3.5" and thin. Pocket vest is okay for meetings and library visits but too bulky for holding a small baby. Elizabeth ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rose Deal" > I think everyone is out Christmas Shopping.
