    3. ArcSoft www.arcsoft.com used to have a freeware version of thier PhotoStudio on line. I could not find it now. This is really easy to use. The hard part is scanning the images straight. If you do not have them straight the stitched area will be blurry. A half of a degree of rotation will cause problems. This is more noticable on text or maps than on photos. Visit http://www.rootsweb.com/~neknox/1920atlas/nebrmap.htm for a map that I scanned for the Knox Co. NEGenWeb Project. This is a large image (795K). It was scanned in three parts. On the top center of the map you will notice some yellow. Follow the right edge of that down to the text and you will see what the miss alignment will do to the text. The left edge of this was better aligned. Tom Garry F Bell <[email protected]> wrote: Hi I have a few images which I have had to scan in two parts. 3. Garry: I've used Photoshop Elements 2.0 to reassemble large pictures that I've scanned in several smaller pieces. The results were quite good in my opinion. The largest number of pieces that I've reassembled is 6 but I'm not sure there is a limit. 2. Hi Sarah, I suggest that you scan the photo at higher resolutions until you get a smoothe picture. Higher resolution equates to a larger picture. I am not certain whether this will work for you but it is what I would try. Good Luck, Joe

    3. Chuck, the first thing you need to do is get permission from the newspaper publishers to place any planned scanned images on a website. They will be subject to copyright you will find if you carefully browse through all the "fine print" somewhere in the newspaper. Copyright is not an issue to be ignored - by anyone. And more especially if you intend to publish someone else's work. 3. Digital cameras are not "upgraded" by changing chips, just the storage card to hold more pictures of the same size. Mpixel is not as important as the quality of the lens. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Nick Ashby" Can a Olympus 2 Mpixel be upgraded to 3 Mpixel by changing the chip

    3. Hi, For all Brits on this list, in Orpington, Kent, I know that my local chemist has a photolab and they can get Kodak to put APS and 35 mil pics onto a Photo CD. Multi session too. Perhaps other formats too? Also, I believe most (every?) Boots photo processing department can get Kodak to do this too. Two sources in one town covering 80,000 souls (a quarter of the London Borough of Bromley)! Perhaps even more as I have not reccied other outlets! <grin> I also believe that Kodak can take both positives and negatives for the Photo CD's - certainly negatives can be produced from positives, so I assume that even old (sepia) pics could end up on a Photo CD? One way to preserve old pics? Once on a photo CD, I presume that any of us could then burn our own CDR's, CDRW's, DVD's, etc? Phil. I have not had any luck with scanning negatives with flat bed scanners. I'm researching a "SmartScan 3600" right now . . . and it sounds good, but it's allot of money to spend if it doesn't work. 3. hi, I bought Canon canoscan 8000f a few weeks ago,it has two adapters, one for 35m film negatives and one for film slides, and I was able with the use of black card to adapt one of them to accept 110 film negatives.I have only done a few 110 negatives, but I have done about 100 film negatives for my mother's husband, they were taken in the 1950's and 1960's and he was so pleased with the results he has turned a couple of them into A4 photographs. 3. Some film scanners have an attachment to allow scanning of APS film. It is about 35mm size but *usually* comes back in the original container instead of cut in strips. Snapshot service got mixed up and sent one film back in the wrong size APS container. 35mm film scan has better quality than a scan of 4x6 inch snapshot made from the same film. If there is any need to scan microfilm or uncut 35mm rolls, different style film scanner is needed than for cut strips. Wide variety of software available and a good product allows a scan of high contrast. 35mm slide had mountain top in bright sun and family members standing in the shade. -- Elizabeth ----- Original Message ----- From: "Steve Ley" > hi, I bought Canon canoscan 8000f a few weeks ago,it has two adapters, one > for 35m film negatives and one for film slides, and I was able with the use > of black card to adapt one of them to accept 110 film negatives.I have only > done a few 110 negatives, but I have done about 100 film negatives for my > mother's husband, they were taken in the 1950's and 1960's and he was so > pleased with the results he has turned a couple of them into A4 photographs.
