Barry; Thanks for the tips. I have planned to check out the book on Elbert County for a while but have not done so. I eventually will. This "John Skelton of Georgia," sounds interesting. I can remember my dad and grandpa McAlister, in telling some of their stories from the past, talk about the Skeltons and "The Old Skelton Place," referring to a family homestead, and I know it was in the Iva-Starr area, but that's all I know.
