My family traces back to a William Gilmer, born on 14 June 1805 in South Carolina. He married Dorcus Mansfield from Logan County, Kentucky in Owensburg County, Tennessee on 24 Aug 1824. They had a son, William Martin Gilmer, on 18 May 1828 in Kentucky. The question I have, does anyone know the origin of William Gilmer of South Carolina. Is he related to Robert Gilmer and Nancy (Martin)Gilmer?
