-------- Original Message -------- Subject: {not a subscriber} South Carolina Connection For Alabama McClintons Date: Tue, 3 Oct 2000 09:42:41 -0700 From: AlGaTnRay@aol.com To: <SCANDERS-L@rootsweb.com> In some genealogy research notes for the Alabama McClintons, I found the following: "Our McClinton's came from South Carolina to Alabama. It seems that Samuel mcClinton born 1800 SC, William F. McClinton born 1804 SC, Robert P. McCliton born 1807 SC, and James E. McClinton born ca. 1810 SC must be brothers or cousins as they all appear in Clarke and Marengo counties (Alabama) about the same time. There are alao Henry McClinton born 1817 SC, a Benjamin McClinton who married in Marengo County in 1839 (married at age 20 maybe - born 1819), a Nancy McCLANTON who marries there in 1834, and Mary McClinton who marries there in 1843. Miss Arrie Singleton of Bratt, FL, grandaughter of James E. McClinton, Jr., says that James McClinton, Sr. came to Alabama in 1819 with sons Samuel; James E. Jr.; Henry; Wiley (?); William F.; Robert P.; John B; Benjamin and daugheter mary. she is probably correct, but we have not proved this." I obtained the document this information is in at a McClinton reunion held in Bratt, FL on Sunday October 1, 2000 from a McClinton relative. I will inquire as to who compiled the document and when it was compiled. I would really appreciate any information or leads from anyone that can help me tie any of the above listed McClintons back to their roots and relatives in South Carolina.
