I just recently found out that my GGG Grandfather, David Simmons, was from S.C. In doing research for Simmons in S.C. I had found an 1840 Anderson Co. census index which listed the following Simmons: David Simmons John Simmons Charles Simmons, Sr. Charles Simmons, Jr. James Simmons, Sr. James Simmons, Jr. Does anyone know anything about these people? My David Simmons would have been born in 1820. He was born in South Carolina and married a woman from Georgia. I believe that he actually married my GGG Grandmother there in Georgia. Then he moved to Alabama where he had children and died. Not only was his name David but he had a son named James. I hope I can find a connection with the above Simmons.
