    1. Re: [SCANDERS] Shockleys in Anderson Co.
    2. The following household # 232 is found on the 1820 Census, Jackson Co., Ga. GIDEON SHOCKLEY 1 male 10 and under 16 1 male 16 to 18 2 males 18 and under 26 1 male 45 and over 1 female 0-10 1 female 10 and under 15 1 female 16 and under 26 1 female 45 and over William Shockely was in Key's tax district in 1804 and in 1805, and he, Gidion and Thomas Sr. were listed in the lottery. In 1820, there were two men, William and Robert (Nos. 590, 591) whose names appear to be Shockley or Shorley. Benjamin Shockely married in Greene County, Ga., Dec. 28, 1819, Patsy Gatlin and in 1827, Patsy Shockely (husband absent) and Gabriel R. Shockley, appeared in the lottery list. Benjamin, John, Jonathan and Thomas were in Greene County's 1820 census. The family was in the part of Pittsylvania County, Va., that became Franklin County, from 1767, and in the 1790's, in Pendleton District, SC. I know this is not what you asked for, but it was all I could find. A. Deason Smith SC
