Jim Lusk - Just saw your post regarding John Shirley's service at Gettysburg. I am interested in learning what Shirley line he descends from. My ancestor, John Newton Shirley, Co. B, 48th Alabama, was wounded on July 2nd at Devil's Den. He survived the war and lived into his 80's. Several of his brothers and an uncle, still in Anderson Co., served in Co. L, 1 (Orr's ) SC Rifles. Of his 6 brothers who served, both from AL and SC, four did not survive. Sandy Shirley Redmond
