My great-great-grandfather was John Daniel King, born 1 Aug 1813 in Pendleton. He died 30 Nov 1879 and is buried at the Shiloh Methodist Church Cemetery on Highway 29 in Anderson County, S,C, His wife was Hannah Richardson. Her family is said to have given the land for the Shiloh Church in Piedmont. On his tombstone it says"Colonel". I can't find any Civil War record of his service. Is this an honorary title? Where should I look for information? Betsy Alleman [email protected]
Betsy...you might get a argument abt Hannah Richardson family donating the land for Shiloh Methodist Church. According to Col. Frank Spearman & his research the land was donated by David Samuel Spearman according to the church history. But I honestly don't know who gave the land!! I never questioned his statement, has anyone on the list been to the church & read the history? You quirked my interest...lol Derrell Oakley Teat, GGGG Granddaughter of Samuel David & Nancy Clardy.
Betsy I have Kings out of VA & NC..do you know the heritage of John Daniel King? Thanks, Derrell Oakley Teat
Betsy, Do you know the parents of John Daniel King and where born. I am interested in all Kings in Pendleton District 1780 forward. Hello Betsy and Harold, My gg grandmother was Martha Jane (or just Jane) King who also came from the Pendleton District. Some family tradition says her father was a John King. I would like to know if this John King had any siblings. My gg grandmother was born 1841. Thanks!
