The homes and Slave quarters of General Andrew Pickens and his son Andrew, are only 300-450 yards away.     3. According to my local expert, Ingrid Jackson of Pendleton she says "Dr. Jim Megason of Carnegie-Mellon University will be returning to the area in the very near future. He has done extensive research in local Black history in this area - much of his findings are at the Strom Thurmon Institute here on campus. I don't know of either of these two people listed below. I will find out when Dr. Megason will be on campus too." I believe he has also researched the slave population on the Calhoun plantation as well.
