Jeff, Don't know if this will help but I found an Evan Thommas on the 1790 Census for Pendleton District, South Carolina, datd 17 May6 1791. He is listed along with 1 white male over 16, 1 while male under 16 and 3 females. If you have any other information about him it would help in finding him further, but hope this gets you started.
